How to Control Your Career
Welcome to my website!
I'm Don Ford, and I want to help you control your career.
There are two things you must do to control your career.
1. Get a job and keep your job using your skills and abilities working in a company or organization.
My book is as good as any to help you do this. Forgive me for boasting but as they say "if you can't cheer for the home team who are you going to cheer for?"
You can learn more about my book in the section called "About my Book."
You may have been with same company for years and all of a sudden you are laid off and join the ranks of the unemployed. I have been there myself and know how it feels. look at the website I talk about.
The best website I know is www.job-hunting-tips.com . Especially look at the section, Finding Jobs. That will give you an almost fool-proof way to getting a job.
Look at the other sections too, incluing Social Networking, CV-resumes, Interview Tips, Find Your First Job, Thankyou Letters and Redunancy.
Get a copy of my book and let me take you through the steps needed to get you back to work. While working on getting a new job let me encourage you to start your own home-based business. You will find a degree of independence you never had as an employee.
You will also find a lot of ideas on this website.
After you get a new job, read the section on Keeping your Job on this website. The first week is important.
2. Start a home-based business. It is like an insurance policy, you never know when you will need it but when you do it is there.
Look at the section "Home-based Business" for some excellent programs.
You need multiple streams of income. You never know when one will dry up.
How to pay for your holidays
I have added two new ways to pay for your holidays. Look at "Home-Based Business" Actually you can operate these businesses from any where in the world. All you need is a computer and a reliable internet connection.
Take a look.
You are probably saying "Who is this guy?" If you are interested look at the "Author" page.
I don't pretend to know everything so I plan to keep updating this website based on my research and conversations with other people. This will help you move on with your career.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
I am also available for speaking to your students, employees, group or club. I can talk about how to get a job, how to keep your job, how to change jobs and how to improve your performance. I can also conduct one day workshops. You can contact me at dfford43p@sympatico.ca
Please tell your friends about my site; they will find it helpful and lucrative.
I wish you the very best as you seek to use your many skills and abilities in the world of work.
